For most students, we strongly recommend our group tuition classes. Our Economics program is well-established and time-tested and has consistently helped thousands of students achieve distinctions at the A Levels since 2007. Each lesson is meticulously crafted to enhance specific skills or concepts tested at the A Levels, with a focus on exam preparation. With enough time and dedication to the program—attending regularly and investing the necessary effort—you are likely to see significant improvements.
However, if, after careful consideration of the costs and benefits, you decide to pursue private one-to-one tuition, consider applying for private classes at ETG.
Availability for one-on-one tutoring at ETG is limited as we only select tutors after thorough evaluation.
Our selection criteria for shortlisting tutors are stringent:
Candidates must hold an Economics degree from a top-tier university.
They should have substantial teaching experience or significant industry experience in Economics. Our team includes a former leading investment banker, Master’s graduates from prestigious local universities like NUS/SMU, and instructors who have taught undergraduate Economics at these institutions.
The selection process involves our founder, Mr. Toh, who personally assesses each candidate's mastery of Economics content (for A Levels / IB) and teaching skills. We constantly gather student feedback and will cease collaboration with tutors who consistently receive negative reviews. We also have a co-teaching initiative, allowing new tutors to learn from observing classes led by Mr. Toh.
We offer three tiers of private classes:
Regular Tier: Taught by an undergraduate Economics student, these classes are ideal for those who generally prefer group learning but desire ongoing individual support for their queries.
Premium Tier: We highly recommend this option. You will be instructed by one of our carefully selected tutors, qualified and experienced enough to answer your questions, assist in grading your assignments, and facilitate steady progress. Note that slots in this tier are quite limited and depend on tutor and classroom availability. You might consider starting with group classes while waiting for a private slot to ensure no loss of valuable learning time. We aim to match you with a tutor within one month of joining group classes.
Principal Tier: For an exclusive learning experience, you can be taught by Mr. Eugene Toh himself, the founder of ETG. Mr. Toh holds a BA in Economics from NUS, a M.Sc. in Economics from SMU, and an EMBA. He is also a renowned author of Economics guidebooks and has written H2 and H1 Economics TYS answers for a leading publisher. Due to his tight schedule, Mr. Toh can only accept one or two students per year for one-on-one tuition.
