Student pain point #1 - cannot understand abstract concepts

There are some concepts that students specifically struggle at. At JC1, most students struggle with Market Structure and concepts relating to costs / revenues diagrams.

Ever feel like what you are learning is alien? That’s understandable considering Economics is one of the only subjects you start on only at the A Levels (very few schools do Economics at the O Levels)

Student pain point #2 - Understand but cannot apply at examinations

At times, you nod in lectures / tutorials almost as if to signal that you understand what your lecturer/tutor is teaching. Then when translating these concepts you supposedly understand at an essay or case study question - you unexpectedly flunk the test. This implies that perhaps your understanding does not translate to exam application.

At ETG - Content learning is simplified

During content lessons, we cover all essential aspects of the curriculum. Adopting a fun & succinct teaching method, Mr Toh often breaks down even the most difficult & complex concepts for easy understanding, and shares useful anecdotes or metaphors to help students internalise and remember the necessary content

APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS TO SINGAPORE & THE REAL WORLD

The ETG Curriculum has a strong focus on giving students a firm understanding on the application of Economic concepts to Real-World contexts. We believe this is essential to inculcate critical thinking skills, and is the key for students to write powerful evaluations & deal with curveball A Level Questions.

From providing contextualised examples to Economic concepts (e.g. Moral Hazard when it comes to Medishield Life), to deepening students’ understanding how Economic policies differ across contexts (e.g. the gradual appreciation of the Singapore dollar via the 'BBC' framework to achieve price stability), we incorporate Real-World examples in every lesson.

Student pain point #5 - You Lack Discipline

There are some of us who need a little more motivation to get started. With so many commitments like CCAs, BGR, Having Fun with friends, studying for multiple subjects can be a challenge for many of us.

Student pain point #6 - You spend hours studying but nothing useful goes in

Some students are hardworking by nature and put in the hours doing revision and yet they find that Economics seem to be a peculiar subject. Why is it that the same techniques that I apply on other subjects don’t seem to work for Economics (hint: econs is not about memorisation)

Student pain point #7 - You don’t have support

You would like someone to check your conceptual understanding. You have some questions to ask while you are revising. You wonder what could be improved with your recent essay that you have done. You look across the room - who can you ask? Apparently, nobody. Many students lack the support to do well.

At ETG - We plan your revision for you

As a default - on a yearly basis, we issue a Revision Booklet during end June. All ETG students will receive it. We help the students structure their revision so they can spend the least amount of time doing what matters the most. Within the revision booklet outlines

3. A concept checklist that students should revise on a weekly basis

1. You have someone to explain what are the requirements of the questions and how to break down the answer to you

2. There is someone to provide feedback on the points that you don’t understand / got it wrong

Prefer Onsite Classes?

Upon registration, ETG students will select their preferred timing as their “Home class”. They will still be able to flexibly switch between the different onsite class timings available (e.g. if you are busy this week due to a CCA commitment, you can choose to change your class timing for the week).

Our Onsite classrooms are spacious, with a conducive environment designed to optimise your learning. They also come with a fully equipped pantry.

Prefer Zoom classes?

If you are looking at attending Zoom classes - know that we have been ahead of the curve in conducting Zoom classes. We started Zoom classes in 2018 - before the pandemic.

We have studio equipment for recording, hosting 4k web-cameras, studio quality microphones to ensure that your streaming will come with crystal clear audio and a crisp video streaming experience.

Students will also be able to access all recorded video lessons on a state-of-the-art LMS.
