Three separate days in the September holidays, open to JC1 and JC2: a comprehension bootcamp on Tuesday 8 September, an essay bootcamp on Friday 11 September, and a four lesson Study Rush on Saturday 12 September. GP is a structured analytical writing examination, and it is graded as one. Three specific problems trip up most students who have not been explicitly taught how it works.
Most students can follow a news argument. Understanding an issue and arguing it under exam conditions are different skills. Arguments drift, paragraphs lose focus, the point gets buried.
Most students describe the same thing. They know what they want to say, and it does not come out right on the page.
GP feels unbounded: technology, politics, environment, media, science, society. Students read without direction, collect fragments, and arrive uncertain which issues matter and how deeply.
Students follow the news and then find they cannot turn it into an argument on the paper.
The AQ carries 12 marks in Paper 2. It needs selective use of the passage, integration of your own knowledge, and a structured response to both sides. Most students are never taught how.
Students answer the AQ, and go on scoring in the middle of the band because nobody has shown them the method.
GP tests how well you can argue: clearly, on both sides, with specific evidence, under time pressure, in structured paragraphs. That is a repeatable skill, and it can be trained.
These are close to the criteria examiners use to award the highest marks. Most students have never seen them.

Most JC students write 10 to 15 essays across two years. By the end of JC1, ETG GP students have written 40 or more full essays; by A Levels, close to 80, every one returned with structured feedback. The cohort is capped at 50 to protect that feedback quality.

Mr Wong's GP lessons have been very helpful. He is very precise when explaining our mistakes and his consults are also very helpful! I only joined a week before my prelims and my grades went up a lot!! The predicted essay questions are also fairly accurate which is super beneficial and the tips he gives are super useful. He is able to relate dry concepts to his own life or our daily lives in general and it makes it so much easier to remember especially during exams!!
Most students in our GP cohorts have achieved an A or B across the years we have run the programme. We do not publish a specific percentage A rate. GP improvement is gradual and depends on many things: which cohort, what grade you start at, your school, how many lessons you attend, how much you write. A single number stripped of that context would mislead you.
When you compare centres, ask what any headline rate actually measures. The curriculum, the writing volume and the feedback structure are what we stand behind, and you can inspect all of it free before you decide.
